Everytime I put my baby’s socks on and leave the house, it’s guaranteed that her left sock falls off. I have no idea why it’s only one sock, but it happens to be the one on her left foot.  One morning, after I dropped of my older daughter at pres-school, I decided to make my way to the car wash.  As I started to put everything in one large bag, I discovered 12 different socks that were lost in my car.  After that incident, I began to notice other babies at the malls, with one sock, or completely sockless.

When I came across a post on Jenslist about Baby Sock Locks, I had to try it out.  Once I received them in the mail, I tried them immediately.  An easy figure 8 to put it on, which secures around the baby’s ankles.  I put them on everyday and have been stopped at Target and at the mall, multiple times, by parents who were curious to know what they were.  Once I told them about it, they all pretty much said, “Where do I get them?”

If you have trouble keeping those socks on your baby’s feet or you know someone who has those problems, these would be perfect.  I love them and think that the mother behind this innovation had those same frustrations I had.  It takes parents to understand parents, and I love that this mother put her ideas into action and came up with a much needed product.

I always thought pancakes were something complicated to make.  Until I came across a pancake recipe that was super simple to make.  Of course, I had to tweek the recipe to fit my wants and needs.  It took me about a minute to mix all the ingredients and about 3 minutes, from pan to plate.  Super quick and super easy!

P.S. Sorry.  I was so hungry that I ate all of it and then thought, maybe I should have taken a picture of it. Sometimes the hunger gets the better of me. ;-)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour (I used 1/2 cup whole wheat flour + 1/2 cup all purpose flour)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (I used organic vegan cane sugar)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup soymilk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • handful of walnuts to sprinkle on top
  • maple syrup to taste
  • Directions:

    1. Combine the 4 dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt) in a bowl.
    2. Add the soy milk and vegetable oil to your mixture.
    3. Mix until smooth.
    4. Now the pan should be ready for your batter, so spoon one pancakes’ worth of the mixture into the pan. (medium heat)
    5. Flip the pancake when you see the bubbles in the middle of the pancake, or if the edges are looking stiffened.
    6. Plate it and sprinkle some walnuts, earth balance, and pour some maple syrup. Yummy!!!!

Serves 2 people (approximately 6-8 pancakes).

My daughter is infatuated with grocery carts.  When we go to the local grocery store, she will try to manuevar the big cart and its quite the show.  At home, we have a little cart that my brother in law purchased from Korea, but it’s really tiny.  Although she loves the cart, because it’s so small, she really has to hover over it to move it around and that becomes a safety issue.

From my previous positive experience with Step2 products, when I came across the Little Helper’s Grocery Cart, I wanted to try it out (I mean, have my daughter try it out).  Since we received the cart 3 days before Christmas, I included it in the pile of gifts that I would give her.  On Christmas day when she opened the box, she was smiling from cheek to cheek.  Immediately, she started to bring out all her toys foods to dump it in the cart.  It was a really cute moment!  When she went to use the bathroom, I finally had the chance to test it out.  I love the cute design, the sturdiness, and how smoothly the wheels moved.  I only wish adult carts came that way at the market.

    Information from the site:

•This cart is designed with a low and wide shape making it easy to handle, even for early walkers
    •Large, durable wheels roll smoothly
•Features a wide open basket space that provides trouble-free access to items inside
•Extra storage space down below on the lower shelf for more fun cargo
•Works perfect for a play stroller too – seat space is perfect for a favorite doll or stuffed animal
•Made in USA of US and imported parts
•Ships fully assembled for instant out-of-the-box play
•Accessories and play food not included

I really don’t have any bad things to say about this product and agree with the 10 reviews on the Step2 site where each reviewer gave the product 5 stars.  Watching my daughter move the cart around the house is precious and knowing that she is safe while doing it, gives me the peace of mind.  At $34, it doesn’t break the bank and you get a quality product. Step2 products are very well made and never leaves me dissappointed.  We own their Safari Canopy Wagon  and when a screw came out, the customer service was kind enough to send me the entire bottom part of the wagon (there was a recall that I wasn’t aware of).  The products are excellent and the customer service is spot on.  To learn more about this cart and other Step2 products, please go here.

I’ve always liked nursingwear that does not look like nursingwear.  Clothes that make my non-nursing, non-mommy, non- married friends, want to wear them.  Yes, you heard me.   A couple months back I wrote about the Charlotte Cape dress and how fashionable, wearable, and functional the dress was.  Well the makers of the Charlotte Cape dress, DOTE, has done it again.  Well, just go on their site, and you will see them doing it again and Again and AGAIN!  I love their clothes.  They have everything from beautiful, girl-next door, to urban-edgy.

When I saw their next top, I jumped, and I had to email them (a reader informed me of this top).  The Revolve Zip Front Top!  It is so me.  If I had to describe my fashion sense, it would have to be a cross between modern-chic to urban-funky.  I like to miss and match pieces.  If I were to wear a nice classic blouse, I would spice it up with some grey wash skinny jeans, and finish the look with some black Frye cowboy boots.  I like to be eclectic, a little different, and show a little bit of my personality through what I wear.  The Revolve Zip Front top is just that piece that you can wear up or down.  I can wear it with some jeans or put on some black tights and knee high boots.

The top itself feels so nice to the skin.  I love the zipper detailing, as it gives that extra edge from just the average top.  The longer length give the illusion of leaner body, which makes it figure flattering.  The belt finishes the top off and gives it that urban-chic look.  I like the fact that I can just unzip the top, lift up the underlying layer or pull it aside to nurse the baby. In a matter of seconds, my baby gets what she needs!

I have gotten compliments from so many ladies on this top and little do they know, it’s a nursing top.  I love that I don’t have to announce to the world that I am nursing.  Nursing or not, what’s  fashionable is fashionable.  I will be wearing this top even after I finish nursing my baby (It’s that nice!).

Do you ever cringe looking at your baby in a very distorted head positioning?  I do.  My little baby girl loves to be in her Orbit car seat.  However, whenever I look at her, her neck looks like it is straining and her head is so tilted to where it looks very uncomfortable.  Her Orbit carseat has a infant insert for the head, however, she always seems to get her head out of it.  Now that she is a little bigger, it is too small for her head.  Plus, I want something that will actually be comfortable for my baby and keep her head in a vertical position.  When I went to the ABC Kids Show in September, I came across Baby Elephant Ears.  From what I could see, it was very cute in design and the concept was quite creative.

After countless times of seeing my baby super uncomfortable in the head area, I thought about my brief encounter with Baby Elephant Ears at the show.  I remember that is was a head support pillow that supported the baby’s cranial-spinal development.  As a parent, having my baby develop properly is at the top of my list.  I had to try out the pillow.

Alicia, a mother and the mind behind Baby Elephant Ears, graciously sent me one to use on my precious baby girl.  As soon as it arrived, I was super anxious and excited to try it out on my baby.  Would it be all that it claims to do? Or will I be disappointed again?  I placed the Baby Elephant Ears inside the carseat and put my daughter in it.  I immediately noticed that it positioned my daughter’s neck straight and the pillow enveloped her neck and head. I did a mini-clap because of the people around me, but I was super excited inside.

The biggest test of them all?  Looking at my daughter, after she falls asleep for a good 20 minutes.  Usually, this is when her head moves around and goes into weird contorted positions.  After I went to pick up my other daughter at pre-school, I went to check on my baby.  I opened up her paparazzi shield, to discover…that her head was still in place and that she looked very comfortable and content.  It passed the biggest test of them all!

I love that you can also use the pillow in the stroller, swing, the floor, pretty much everywhere and anywhere.  It doesn’t have any straps or clips that can become a safety issue.  More importantly, it encourages healthy development and strong posture which is the building block and foundation to other developmental milestones.  Knowing that my child has good head and neck support for a healthy alignment, is very important to me.

Baby Elephant Ears is really cute, functional, and very easy to use.  You can throw in your diaper bag with your other essentials and when you clean it, just throw it in the washer.  It’s made with designer fabrics and also has organic fabric selections, using eco-conscious corn-fiber fill.  These would be excellent as a gift or for your own child and they also have matching blankets.  For more info visit their site here.

Thanks for being a part of this past year with me, on my journey of motherhood!  I can’t be more grateful of all the support and all the great emails that came my way!  I have so many great things for the New Year and can’t wait for them to unfold one by one.  I know this is the time of year we think about our resolutions, reflect about the past year, try to bury the not so great parts, and just simply move on.  My resolution for this New Year is to be as healthy as I can (so I don’t miss out on any great moments) and continue to be the best person I can be!

To you, my Mommas in the House family:  I wish you love, happiness, success, health (mind/body), prosperity, and lots and lots of luck (if you believe in it ;-) ).  It’s a new chapter in your “Book of Life”.  Happy New Year!!

I leave with you with this quote: “Every man should be born again on the first day of January.  Start with a fresh page.  Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past.”  ~Henry Ward Beecher
